Foundation Series, Plain View Press
|
The Plain View Press--Foundation Series is produced in collaboration with
the Foundation for a Compassionate Society. These books present the theoretical
vision and activism which has emerged from the World Women's Movement
at the end of the 20th century. Here are guiding principles for a new
feminism, rooted in historical feminism and informed by the voices of
women from all countries and cultures. Here are activists and common women
who have worked for freedom, justice, compassion, and respect for all
people, in governments and in families, world-wide, now and in the future.
This series, begun in 1996, is new to Plain View Press. We are proud to
be able to bring these books to you because they provide the theoretical
and activist matrix from which the work we have done for 21 years has
emerged. Plain View Press has always been an issue-based publishing house.
Here are the issues. For ordering information: Plain View Press or call 1-800-878-3605.
For-Giving--A
Feminist Crtiticism of Exchange
by Genevieve Vaughan
Introduction by Robin Morgan
In this radical departure from traditional thinking, Vaughan draws the
distinction between giftgiving, which is based on mothering, and exchange,
which is based on masculine socialization--a paradigm that has brought
the planet to the brink of extinction. It can be replaced--from within,
by a paradigm based on mothering.

Feminist Family
Values Forum
Edited by Susan Bright
Addresses by: Gloria Steinem, Angela Davis, Maria Jimenez, Mililani
Trask
More than two thousand people gathered on Mother's Day, 1996, to listen
to keynote and community speakers discuss issues relating to feminist
family values.
The right wing does not have a corner on family values. Feminists love
their children too and propose the liberation of the family from patriarchal
extremist models. It is clear from this collection of commentaries that
a new wave of activism is growing past the word feminism to emerge for
the first time as a world women's movement, informed by diverse opinions,
visions, wisdom and dedicated to the liberation of all people.
